PAPATOETOE WELFARE LEAGUE.
The monthly meeting of the Papatoetoe Ratepayers' Welfare League was held on Thursday. Mr. J. G. Thompson presided. It was agreed to write to the Otahuhu Borough Council, Automobile Association and Highways Board urging them to provide a track for people using cycles on the Westfield-Penrose part of the Great South Road. It was also decided to approach the Railway Board asking it to consider an extension of bona-fide workers' tickets to those arriving in town on or before 9 a.m., also a reduction of workers' tickets.
The dismissal of one of the board's staff, a ratepayer, and retaining a non-ratepayer, came up for discussion, and as the reply from the board was not considered satisfactory further action will be taken.
