TAKANINI TRIALS.

EXAGGERATION'S EIVE.

GAY SHEILA ALSO PLEASES.

The inside grass was open for fast work at Takanini this morning, the going being excellent. Gold Pocket (Jones) and Expectancy (Fearn) were first out, running six furlongs in 1.18. The former was two lengths to the good at the finish. Arch Ruler (Forsyth} beat Tatyoon (Choke) by three lengths over live furlongs in 1.3 4-5. Arch Ruler relished the easy nature of the track, which did not suit Tatyoon. Exaggeration (Jones) appeared to be doing a shade better than Greek Gold (Fergus) at the end of a similar task irf 1.3 1-5. Both horses are in excellent order, and Exaggeration will again be ridden by tlie stable apprentice E. Jones. Greek Gold's pilot in his engagement will be J. F. Fergus. Toplight (Mcllroy) could have done better than 41s for the last three furlongs of his work, while Haupere ran the last two furlongs of his work in 28s. Sir Willonyx (Chote) was too good for Thespis (Forsyth) over half a mile in 51 2-ss. Thespis should give a good account of himself 011 Saturday. Holly Lu (Fergus), with the assistance of Xicodemus (Jones) over the hist half-mile, ran six furlongs nicely in 1.17 3-5, the pair being together at the finish. King March (Forsyth) jumped away in advance of Speedmint (Doig) at the mile post, but the latter quickly assumed command, and was not troubled to beat him by a couple of lengths at the finish in 1.48 4-5. Speedmint worked well, and was not extended, but King March's effort was very disappointing. Xun Nicer (Fearn) broke away in front of Gallant Knight (Clifford), and was steadied, for the pair to finish together at the end of half a mile in 525, the last three furlongs being run in 37 4-ss. Alignment (Jones) completed an easy six furlongs in 1.19 3-5. Gay Sheila (Doig) and Gay Marigold (Forsyth) were companions over five furlongs in 1.3 4-5, but Gay Sheila was too good, and was going very easily at the finish. Both fillies are in excellent order.
