MELBOURNE CENTENARY.
INVITATION TO AMERICANS. (Received 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 30. Sir Benjamin Fuller, tho Australian theatre magnate, left here hurriedly on his return to Australia, having suddenly changed his plans after a failure to realise his hopes of securing a passage in the Graf Zeppelin for Europe. He is flying by seaplane to Kingston, Jamaica, thence to Cristobal and Balboa, to catch the Rangitano at Panama on November 2 en route to Sydney via New Zealand. "As the unofficial ambassador for the 1934 centenary celebrations in Melbourne," he addressed several clubs in New York, inviting the members to visit Australia for the celebrations at "their own expense." He thought the New York theatrical season had opened auspiciously and expressed interest in several ■'hits."
