STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

RACED WELL LAST SEASON. Takakua showed a glimpse of his true form when he ran second to Foreign Queen in the Kebbell Handicap at Foxton, in which he is stated to have been unlucky. He is engaged in the Ling Memorial Stakes at Otaki next Friday, and if ridden by a strong horseman he should be in the money. This horse won seven races last season, ranging in distance from six furlongs to one mile and a quarter, and his prospects during the next few months look exceptionally good. DOING GOOD WORK. Few maidens at headquarters are working better than King Musk, who has been responsible for several smart gallops during the last few weeks. He has also hardened in condition and will strip in good order for the Avondale meeting, where he is engaged in the Maiden Handicap on the first day and the New Lynn Handicap on the second day. King Musk has not had a race since last November, consequently it is doubtful if he will bo capable of winning first up. JUVENILE SHAPING WELL. Sporting Song, one of the most forward two-year-olds in work at Ellerslie, is doing everything asked of him in first-class style and will bo in capital condition for the Avondale meeting. There is no doubt concerning this colt's speed, but he will be meeting a proved galloper in Wlienuakura in the Avondale Stakes, and one who has had the benefit of some previous racing. If beaten, Sporting Song is not likely to be disgraced and his winning turn is sure to come early in the season.

GIFT BROOD MARE. Disdainful, who is one of G. Murra; Aynsley's Bonny Glen—Lady Disdaii mares, is not in foal this season, but sh is represented by a good-looking yeai'lini by Winning Hit. Because of this promii ing youngster, her owner has presentei Disdainful to Sir Charles Clifford, in thi hope that she may breed something gooi for him before the end of her career. Dis dainful is a sister to Reproachful (dam o Chide) and Contempt (dam of Silve Scorn), so she is bred on successful lines though she has not bred anything of tin class produced by her two sisters.

FAIRWAY RETURNS. The racehorsc fairway, who has been racing in Sydney" during the last few months, returned to Auckland this morning by the Marania. During his visit to the other side lie won a mile high-weight handicap at Victoria I'ark and a mile and a quarter raec at Rosebery. WILL HAVE TO IMPROVE. Royal Passion, who registered a surprise ' win in the second division of the Maiden I .Stakes at Foxton, is a six-year-old gelding Iby Royal Divorce from Phillipa. He was ' only raced once Jast season, running | unplaced in a five-fuClong event at the i 1 Manawatu Hunt meeting. He met a weak . held last Saturday and will have to improve in order to pay his way among the ! better-class hacks he will be meeting in , the future. TO RACE NEXT MONTH. ' Nothing beyond strong pace work lias been required of Kairuri, who will not be seen in public until .November. This work evidently agrees with the Surveyor i gelding, judging by his condition, for he is now more robust looking than ever he j , has been previously. All going well in the j interim Kairuri will contest the Trial ; Hurdles 011 the first day and the Oneliunga Steeplechase on the second day of the . Auckland spring meeting. | TO RESUME TRAINING. That good mare Gold Money has been j doing light exercise around the roads dm- 1 ing the last few weeks and will commence i work again at Ellerslie shortly. It is ! some time since the daughter of Paper I Money had her last start, though she does I I not require much fast work to tit her for 1 1 racing and should come on quickly at this | period of the season. At her best this, ; mare is a brilliant galloper, and if she | trains on correctly she should be capable ; of winning more money. ; BACK TO FORM AGAIN. | Eminent was having his third race this I season when he led the field home in tin: ; Robinson Handicap at Foxton 011 Satur- | day. thereby proving that he is back to form again. He won impressively, and the fact that he was staying on at the finish of the race indicates that he will be hard to beat in similar events from now onward. His successes last season included the Taranaki Cup. and ho also rail second to Princess Argosy in the Autumn Handi- | cap at Trentliam, thereby proving his ability to run out a solid eleven furlongs. Eminent figures ill the Xew Zealand Cup at 7.7. and if started is likely to beat more than beats him. I NEW ZEALAND CUP ACCEPTORS! When first acceptances for the Xew Zealand Cup were declared thirty-one horses remained in the race, as compared with twenty-nine at the corresponding 1 stage of the 1932 race, and thirty-four in ' 1031. Red Sun was a surprise withdrawal. Autopay. who is in Australia, was allowed to drop out of the Cup, but he has been nominated for other events. He has been under veterinary treatment recently. InHiition. who is racing at Randwiek, has remained in the Cup. In addition to Autopay and Red Sun. the withdrawals were Royal Artist, Great Star. Protomint, Mer- | cian Prince, Midian. Royal Bengal. Red Racer, Heather Glow. March Alone, Flower, Milnrow, Fiat Lux and Martian Chief.
