TOUR BY JAPANESE ? $ CUP FOR MILE CHAMPION. ! (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ! WELLINGTON, Monday. ! The Victorian Amateur Athletic Association is negotiating for a tour by Japanese athletes, and the New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association this evening had before it a suggestion from the Auckland Centre that the Japanese be asked to extend their tour to New Zealand. The secretary stated he would write to the Victorian Association concerning the matter. It was decided to present a challenge cup for the one-mile New Zealand track championship to perpetuate the achievement of .T. E. Lovelock in establishing a world mile record in America recently. Centres are being invited to contribute toward -the cost.
It was decided to advise the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay sub-centre of the Wellington Centre that the association was prepared favourably to consider its application for recognition as a separate centre, subject to certain matters being given effect to.
