WILI' NOT ACCEPT AMENDMENTS.
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, this dav.
Close attention to the revision of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Bill has been given by the Minister of Finance. Mr. Coates, and the final draft is expected to receive early Cabinet approval.
The extent of the alterations is not known, but the Minister paved the way •for the changes by the statements of policy contained in the series of articles on the subject which he recently issued. It may be taken for granted that the new bill to be presented to Parliament will conform practically to the letter with the views expressed in the Ministerial pamphlet.
The date of the introduction of the bill in the House has not yet been fixed, but it will not be before it has been explained to a caucus of tli© Coalition. It is not the intention of the Government to refer the measure to a select committee, and it is understood that amendments during its passage through the House will not be accepted.
It is stated that the bill in its revised form is "as near to perfection as possible." It will definitely rank as one of the principal policy measures, and the Government is determined to pass it before the close of the session.
