TEACHERS' INSTITUTE.

OFFICERS ELECTED. About 40 members attended the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute yesterday. Mr. C. F. Collins presided. The exclusion of children of five years of age from attending school was discussed, and it was decided to request the central executive in Wellington to move to have the legislation altered. The election of the local executive of the managing resulted:—President, Mr. G. K. Hamilton; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. F. Collins and J. H. Menzies; treasurer. Mr. W. O. Lamb; additional members of the managing committee, Mrs. M. C. Chisholm. Misses E. M. Taylor, F. J. Taylor and M. Tuthill, Messrs. F. E. Blakey, C. W. Boswell, A. B. Fordvce, J. W. Fawcett. A. Murdoch. A. F. Scherer, R. C. Simmons and S. Walker: Country members. Messrs. J. Box, D. C. Clarkson and A. E. Day. The secretary is Mr. J. Armstrong.
