CAUSE OF CHARITY.
APPEALS AT WHANGAREI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAXGARKI, this day. In the past fortnight Whangarei has made a generous response to charity appeals. The gross takings at the movie ball wore approximately £175, and after necessary expenses have been met, over £100 should be available for the citizens' relief committee. Yerderdiiy a cheque for £42 S/7, representing the receipts for the community singing last Tuesday night, was paid the Mayor, as chairman of the relief committee. Collections taken at the football match and dinner yesterday netted a sum of approximately £12 for the ambulance.
