WARNING TO GIRLS.
"Too strenuous games by girls who for various reasons are not able to stand up to them do a great amount of harm," said a Hospital Board official when discussing the question of girls who had become incapacitated and had asked the board for help till they recovered their normal strength. "What working girls especially need is not strenuous games every day of the week, but rather one day's rest in seven. In districts where this is carried out girls are always better for their week's work, and, really all unknown to themselves, have a greater zest for their work. "What is alarming hospital boards and medical men all over the Dominion is the number of girls who are getting cliest complaints through not wearing sufficient clothing as the colder weather comes on. X-ray examinations often show that the seeds of disease are being sown, and these disappear when proper and warm clothing is worn. It is understood that there is a Dominion agitation in the hospitals to see that probation nurses are properly clothed, as it is found that they, with others, are conforming to fashion rather than to comfort. Their work is so arduous that they require to take the greatest care that their bodies get the* warmth they need, especially during night duty."
