CYCLIST INJURED.

COLLIDES WITH TRUCK.

A collision between a bicycle and a motor truck occurred at the junction of Manukau Road and Edgerly Avenue at 6.20 last evening, the cyclist, Mr. James Dickenson, ,aged 30, receiving severe head injuries and a fracture of his right arm. His left arm was gashed by a lamp on the truck. He was taken by the St. John Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital.

After the accident Mr. Dickenson was placed in the truck and driven to his residence at the junction of Manukau and Great South Roads, where some difficulty was experienced in removing him from the cab. A tourniquet was applied to staunch the bleeding of his left arm. He was then taken to the Auckland Hospital, where his. condition was stated to-day to show an appreciable improvement on his condition last night.

An ambulance officer commented on the unwise action of those who lifted the injured man from the ground into the truck. He said that the case was an instance of the serious results which occur from such well-meaning actions. In the. case of internal injuries, unskilled handling might bring on graver results; a simple fracture might even become a compound fracture.
