EXPECT HARD WINTER.
MINING PROSPECTORS. POSITION" IN MURCHISON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MURCHISON, this day. At a meeting of the Murcliison county mining executive the local certifying officer reported that a large number of unemployed men had recently arrived in the Murcliison district under the impression that they could immediately be placed on mining claims. Since the recent inception of the Unemployment Board's mining scheme 30 men had been placed on special areas, and it would be necessary for the executive in future to deal with all applications strictly in the order of dates. Some delay therefore must he anticipated before the lata arrivals, could he satisfactorily placed.
The executive advises In a general way that, owing to the probable severity of winter conditions in the Murchison county this season it would not be wise for anyone to take up claims in the district unless fully equipped to endure the climatic conditions.
