HUMAN REMAINS.

GHARGE OF INTERFERENCE

DUNEDIN SEXTON FIXED,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, Friday.

In the Supreme Court to-day Mr. Justice Kennedy imposed a penalty of £3 on John Hellyer Allan, sexton at the Xorthern Cemetery, who pleaded guilty to interfering with human remains.

The Crown Prosecutor stated that before 1900 portion of the cemetery was used for pauper burials, but, by mistake or ignorance, the City Council in 1912 re-surveyed the area and sola the ground to new purchasers. The sexton was digging a grave for a pending funeral when he came across two ancient coffins, which were removed to a clay bank.
