V • At its special meeting to-day tlie Whangarei County Council struck tlic rates for tlic year. The clerk announced that special loan rates would be practically the same, and that local bodies would' be called npon. to collect the rate of 3d in £ for the Harbour Board.
•Kates, as follows, were agreed upon, subject to confirmation at the next meeting, last year's rates beiajr in parentheses:—Waipu, 2d (2]d); Hikurangi, 2.? d (3d); Kirlpaka, 2id (23d) ; Maunu, 2.Jcl (2jd) ; Mangapai, 2!}<l (3d) ; Manaia, 3Jd (3)d); Otonga, 3d (3d); Mangakahia, 2Jd (2Jd); Maungakaramea, 2}d (2fd); Wairua, 2Ad (2Ad); Oneralii Town Board, 2d (2d).
