HARBOUR.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
PUKEKOHE, Wednesday,
An inquest was opened yesterday and adjourned after the finding of the body of Mr. Leslie Draper, aged 19, who disappeared on April 16 while fishing from a rowing boat off Long Nose Point, between Awhitu and Pollok, on the Manukau Harbour. The body was found to-day three miles from the scene of the occurrence at Clarke's Point, Waiau pa.
At the inquest, which wa s presided over, by the district coroner, Mr. C. K. Lawrie, evidence of identification was given by the father of deceased, Mr. James Draper.
The empty rowing boat was discovered anchored about a mile off shore late on April 16 by Mr. D. O. Kelsey, of Waiuku, who was passing in a launch. One oar was missing. It is thought that deceased, who was a strong swimmer, must have dived overboard to recover the other oar and been seized with cramp. '
