ONE TREE HILL COUNCIL.

The One Tree Hill Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, presiding.

Council Re-elected.—At the commencement of the meeting the Mayor expressed •his gratitude to the electors of the borough for returning the council unopposed. He was confident that during the next two years the council would give him the same measure of support as in the past. If the council continued its past policy the ratepayers would not have any cause for complaint. He added that by returning the whole council for another term of office the electors had saved an expenditure of over £100, which would be spent oh district affairs. Mayor's Honorarium.—The honorarium Oi the Mayor was fixed at £100, the same as last year. Mr. C. L. Slyfield was re-elected to the position of deputy Mayor. Infirmary Water Supply.—Mr. S. J. Hartoutt advised that the secretary of the Hospital Board had informed him that the cost of sinking the bore at the Infirmary was £335, and tbat the amount had been paid out 1 of a fund which had nothing to do with ordinary revenue. Mr. Harbutt added that he was pleased to see that the council had secured the election of one of its members, Mr. W. G. Mulholland, to the Hospital Board. Water Rates.—The legal adviser to the Municipal Association, in reply to ah inquiry by the council, stated that he could see no objection to the council recovering water rate arrears 'toe against the occupier and making them a charge on the property. Inspection of Borough.—lt was decided that a tour of inspection of the borough should be made on Saturday. The Mayor mentioned that it was his intention that inspection tours should be more frequent during the coming two years than in the past. Drive for Clothes. —Permission was granted the One Tree Hill Relief Workers' Association, who are to carry out a clothes drive in the borough on Saturday, to use the old fire station building as a store for the proceeds of the collection for a period of two weeks.

Museum Council.—The Mayor was recommended as the council's representativp on tbe council of the Auckland Institute and Museum.
