LOCAL BODIES.

NEW LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL,

The last meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council as at present constituted took place last evening. The Mayor (Mr. George Lawson) presided, other members present being Messrs. W. Piatt, Geo. Severne, S. James, A. Woolley and A. J. Jeffrey.

Traffic.—The traffic inspector reported upon 39 cases of motorists speeding within the borough. Seven prosecutions were ordered.

Public Health.—The sanitary inspector submitted a report covering the health of the borough during the past year. A satisfactory feature was the fact that only six cases of infectious diseases had occurred, including two of tuberculosis.

Public Works.—The completion o£ the kerbing and channelling of Totara Avenue intersection was reported upon. The main water meter had been taken out for testing, and proved to be 6 per cent slow.
