LOCAL BODIES.
NEW (LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
An ordinary meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council was- held last evening. The Mayor, Mr. Geo. Lawson, presided, and other members present were: Messrs. W. Piatt, Geo. Severne, S. James, M. Laing, A. Woolley and A. Jeffrey. Urban Lands Rating Act.—Under this Act a number of applications, which comprised some of the largest areas in the borough, were received. In a number of instances the assessments' had been reduced since the last district valuation: The question will'be dealt with by the n6w council. Lynndale Athletic and Cycle Club.—The club intimated that "a cycle division had been formed and it desired to run a series of weekly road races. It asked permission to use a road circuit in the borough covering GV* miles, the course to be properly marshalled and flagged. The council gave its approval subject to the circuit commencing and finishing at Portage Road: Reports.—The borough foreman reported that five building permits had been issued during March. Dog registrations totalled ]27, trie fees amounting to' £29-7/6. The noxious weeds inspecwr intimated that 103 notices v.-ere sent out during the past month and a considerable amount.- of clearing was in progress. Subdivision. —A subdivision of Mrs. Stafford's property on Seabrook and Hutchinson Avenues was. approved.
