TRANSPORT EMPLOYEES.

QUESTION OF RE-EMPLOYMENT Complaint was made at a meeting of the Auckland Transport Board this morning by the secretary of the employees' union that vacancies had occurred, and instead of the single men who had gone on extended leave being given the opportunity of resuming, a number of the men who had been retrenched had been engaged.. Tho manager, Mr. E. Ford, said that the men referred to had, at their own request, been given indefinite leave of absence, and some of them accepted one week's pay in lieu of notice. Thirteen junior married temporary employees had previously been paid off. In December last eleven of them were placed on regular runs in place of men away sick or on other leave. It was decided to advise the union that the most just action had been taken.
