Although she may not have won outright, Transaction would have gone very close to winning the Rangitoto Handicap had she been a little better favoured in running. She was cut oif just after the start and again, when commencing the run along the back, was chopped out and had to be steadied. Then her rider, Baker, pulled her to the outside and moved up, but was covering a lot of ground on the outside of Pelting, who was making his run on the outside of United and Merry Lap, which meant that Transaction was four horses out. As they swung into the straight Transaction was taken out very wide, and under all the circumstances she put up a good effort to finish third, just over two lengths away from the winner.
