Greek Gold and Principal finished together a length in front of Imperial Prince, the seven furlongs taking 1.29 2-5. Exaggeration was two lengths in front of .Delltopper at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.15 4-5, after running the first three in 36 4-ss. Tea Trader and Royal Artist jumped off at the mile peg, and after traversing the first half-mile in 525, came home in 1.45 2-5. Both were going comfortably'at the end. \Palace was sent away from the seven-furlong post, being picked up at the five by Lady Vane, who lost several lengths when she hopped away. Palace was steadied till she drew level, and Lady Vane finiehed a length in front, the last six furlongs taking, 1.17 3-5. Corinis easily beat Gold Pocket over half a mile in 49 2-ss, after running the first three in 36 3-ss. Expectantcy was to have gone with them, but broke away and took no part in the gallop. High Comedy and Speedmint pleased while running five furlongs in 1.2 3-5, the first four furlongs taking 49 4-se. High Comedy finished a neck in front. Foulwind was two lengths in front of Lord Willonyx at the conclusion of half a mile in 50s. Prolyxo and Gay Marigold easily beat Holly Lu over seven furlongs in 1.29 3-5, the former pair going well, particularly. Prolyxo. Good Hunting is still in the Great Northern Guineas and is engaged in the Hobson Handicap, seven furlongs, on the second day at Ellerslie. RETURNING TO FORM. Carfex, who has been paid up for in the Gordon Handicap, to be decided at Ellerslie next Saturday, won the Opunake Scurry, five furlongs, at the Taranaki Hunt meeting a few weeks ago and was third to Ganpat and Aga Khan in the Durie Hack, six furlongs, at Wanganui a little later. At the recent Wellington meeting Carfex ran second to Drum Fire in the Rimutaka Handicap, seven furlongs, and occupied a similar position to t Lyrical over a mile on thp second day, so that he is pretty useful. He is a three-year-old by Nigger Minstrel and is trained by J. Brown at Hawera.
