Golf Championship.

TITIRANGI TITLE.

McCrystall Leading Murray on

First Round.

The first round of the Titirangi Golf Club's championship between R. McCrystall and J. Murray was played to-day over 36 holes. The morning round was very evenly contested, McCrystall finishing 1 up. He got a lead of two by winning the second and third holes, but Murray, with a fine mashie shot at the short fourth, got one back, McCrystall giving up the hole. Murray squared the game at the fifth by approaching nicely and sinking a six-foot putt for four to his opponent's five. McCrystall drove a great tee-shot at the eighth, reaching the green 300 yards away, and holed a three to win. On Murray taking the ninth they were "all square" at the turn.

On the homeward journey McCrystall was 2 up at the 16th. The next hole was halved. Murray played a beautiful second, at the 18th and holed a three to leave McCrystall 1 up on the first round.
