New Zealand Tourney. — The Championship Opens. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, this day. The first round of the New Zealand ladies' golf championship was played yesterday, but few players were drawn in this round. Mrs. H. Collinson (Manawatu) defeated Miss V. Fleming (Russley), 5 and 3; Miss E. Macfarlane (Russley) defeated Mrs. Dixon (Invercargill), 1 up at the 19th; Miss J. Horwell (Timaru) defeated Mrs. Gamble (Otago), 6 and 5. ' i Silk Defeated in Wanganui Semi-finals. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. In the semi-finals of the Wanganui golf championship beat Hutchison, 5 and 4, and Haworth beat Silk, 2 up. OTAHUHU LADIES' CLUB. A medal round over ten holes will be played next Wednesday by members of the Otahuhu Ladies' Golf Club for Miss E. O'Loughlen's trophy, players to chooie partners.
