TE AWAMUTU, this day.
The course proper, about 20ft out, was used for fast work this morning. Early the track was in excellent condition, but heavy rain after the breakfast interval made the surface greasy. All the Avondale candidates did useful work. King's Knave, with a big weight up, ran two furlongs in 28s. He was under restraint. Lucidus was doing much better than his companion, Marechal, over five furlongs in 1.3. This was nice work. Triehna and Kanapa covered six furlongs in 1.19. The Stakes candidate Pelagia pleased when, in company with Foreign Money, she dashed over five furlongs in 1.3 3-5. The gelding placed two furlongs behind in 255. This gelding has plenty of pace, and knows how to gallop. Dinelli was hitting out attractively over five furlongs in company with Chateau, in 1.3. Sea Ruler was ahead of Soloist at the end of five furlonge in similar time. He could have done better. Jonathan accompanied Limeen over a mile in 1.51 4-5, the first half taking 565. Both could have improved on this time. Miss Lorraine was working nicely alongside Loombination over seven furlongs in 1.38. Rose Lupin was well ahead of Erination at the conclusion of five furlonge in 1.11. Gayeogne (Sullivan) and Emancipation (Thompson) were sent.over four hurdles. Both gave a safe display. Gaysogne is showing much improvement. Protomint covered a mile in 1.53. He was being eased up the straight.
