POISON FOUND.

GISBORNE WOMAN'S DEATH. INQUEST RESUMED. POLICE INQUIRIES FAIL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, this day. After an interval of three months the inquest o;i the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Beattin, aged 48, was resumed this morning before the district coroner, Mr. P. H. Harper, S.M. Mrs. Beattin died on August 7 and the inquest was opened on the following day and adjourned for a report by the Government analyst. / Detective McLeod in re-opening the proceedings stated that the analysis had discovered 1.6 grain of poison. After exhaustive inquiries the police were unable to ascertain how the woman had obtained possession of the poison. Mrs. Beattin was the wife of a man from South Canterbury and came to Gisborne 12 years ago. The inquest is proceeding.
