WELFARE OF INFANTS.
PLUNKET WORK IN CANADA. FOSTERED BY NEW ZEALANDER The growth of the Plunket "Society movement in Canada was mentioned by Mrs. Irving Robertson, president of the Canadian Mothercraft Society, who arrived by the Aorangi last evening. Mrs. Robertson was formerly Miss Barbara Mackenzie, of Featherston, and her husband, who died at the beginning of the year, was the son of Mr. John Ross Robertson, a noted journalist of Toronto. Mr. Robertson, sen., established and maintained the great Ontario Children's Hospital. The Canadian Mothercraft Society, which advocated methods modelled on Sir Truby King's feeding system, was founded in Toronto 18 months ago, and was making amazing progress, said Mrs. Robertson. In a year the visits of mothers to the advice rooms had increased from 50 to 1000. Wonderful results were being achieved, and this was largely due to the good work of two New Zealand nurses, Miss Satchell and Miss Coxsmith, whose advice and instructions was being enthusiastically followed by Canadian nurses.
