AUCKLAND SHOW.

FINANCES SATISFACTORY.

NEW SHOWGROUND RESERVE. THE YEAR REVIEWED. Although the net loss on the past year's operations of the Auckland Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral Association was £128, the financial position of the association, as shown by the balance-sheet to be submitted at the annual meeting of members on Friday next, is considered highly satisfactory. The reserve account.for the proposed new showground is £17,468, and the capital account has a credit balance of £5522. The autumn show resulted in a los 3 of £494, the revenue being affected by the reduction made in gate charges from 2/ to 1/. The attendance on people's day was a record, and in the various sections of the show the standard of stock exhibited was high. Expenditure was curtailed as much as possible at the winter exhibition, and the result fully justified the exhibition being held. During the year an art union was conducted and had considerably augmented the showground reserve account. Although the Royal Society had not alloted the 1934 Royal Show to Auckland, it was intended to niake further overtures to the society. The association co-operated with the Franklin Association t* form a one district exhibit of lambs for the competition held by the Meat Producers' Board, and many very fine lambs were sent to Smithfield market. The calf club established at Whitford was a success, and the heifers are being tested free by the New Zealand Herd-Testing Association. During the year Mr. H. Bullock Webster was made an honorary life member of the association in appreciation of his 50 years of service as a member. The report records the council's high appreciation of the efficient manner in which the managing secretary, Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, carried out his exacting duties during the year. The following officers retire this year and are eligible for re-election:—President, Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Austin Carr and J. P. Kalaugher; councillors, Messrs. G. Bicker-ton-Fisher. M. B. Kirkbride. W. J. Lopdell. M. G. McArthur, E. D. McLennan, C. R. EH Mackesy, J. Meyer, J. Muir, A. J. Stratford, A. A. Swaffield, F. M. Waters, A. E. Watkins, Jas. Wyllie, Jno. Wyllie. Nominations for the various offices close ta-day.
