DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. REFEREES AND JUDGES SELECTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The New Zealand Boxing Council has appointed the following officials to act at the New Zealand amateur championships :— Referees. —Messrs. N. McLean (Auckland), E. Perry (Wellington), L. C. Cotter (Blenheim). Judges.—North Island:. G. • BuSh (Auckland), D. 11. Newbigin (Hastings). South Island: S. Lindsay (Invercargill), J. Killiiartin (Dunedin).
POVERTY BAY TEAM. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) GISBORNE, this day. Three representatives of . the Poverty Bay group of amateur boxers will appear at the annual New Zealand amateur championship tournament. First among the Gisborne nominations will be Joe Franklin, whose appearances here and in Hawke's Bay have demonstrated considerable improvement in his ring work during the .past year. E. Matchitt, formerly of Bay of Plenty and latterly of Poverty Bay, is the middle-weight candidate, and those who saw him win the final Poverty Bay championship will agree that he is worth nomination. The Poverty Bay flyweight champion, W. McKay, is the third nominee of the team, and is as likely as either of his team mates to pull off the honours.
