McJlanus won the Mount Denby Cup for the best gross score over 30 holes. The afternoon's medal round resulted in a tie between H. F. Buckley and Goulding, with a score of 71. MacLeod (Melbourne) won the Australian women's golf championship for the fourth time. She defeated Miss Russell in the final. 4 and 2. Miss MacLeod's play was confident and steads - . Miss Russell was nervous. She was weak with her irons, but good with her wooden clubs. HAGEN GOES DOWN. DEFEATED AT 43RD HOLE. NEW YORK, September 1. In the' Professional Golf Association's tournament at St. Paul, Minnesota, Hagen and Kirkwood were among the many favourites who were eliminated in the first round of match play (30 holes). Hagen lost to John Golden at the forty-third hole. John Kinder defeated Kirkwood, 1 up.
