DOMINION VETERANS. C. H. REDHEAD CHAMPION. HAROLD LUSK BEATEN AT XDTH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, Thursday. The New Zealand veterans' golf tournament was finalised this afternoon in dismal conditions. The cup game between Lusk (Auckland) and Redhead (Rotorua) provided an exciting contest, the game going to the local player at the nineteenth. Lusk, who gave eleven strokes to his opponent, was steady throughout. The first hole went to Redhead on handicap, 5—5, the second was halved, Lusk being stymied, while the third was halved in fours. The fourth again went to Redhead, 4—5, making him 2 up. At the fifth Redhead found the creek from his drive, taking five to reach the green, while Lusk was on the edge of the green with his second, failing by inches to take the hole in three. The sixth saw Redhead find the bunker from his drive. He made a good recovery, halving the hole in three. At the seventh Kedliead increased his lead to 2 up again, the eighth and ninth being halved. The tenth saw Lusk again stymied after what looked a certain win, his opponent halving the hole. At the eleventh the handicap stroke saved Redhead from losing the hole, but he lost the twelfth when he found the bunker, taking two shots to get out and giving up the hole —Redhead 1 up. His 6troke again enabled Redhead to halve the thirteenth. Lusk squared the match at the fourteenth and took the fifteenth by 3 to 4, making him 1 up for the first time during the match. At the sixteenth good fortune helped the local player, as his tec shot, going fast and wide off the green, struck an obstacle and rebounded on to the green, the hole going to Redhead in four —all square. The seventeenth was halved in three. In the eighteenth the Rotorua player was wide, his second finding the bunker. With his third he chipped out and sunk a long putt for five. Lusk's putt rested on the lip of the hole, lie taking four to his opponent's live, Kedliead's stroke making it still J square. TTie nineteenth saw Lusk again conceding a stroke. With his third he was six inches from the pin, but his opponent sank a six-foot putt to win the hole and match. At the conclusion of the tourney the prizes were presented by Mrs. F. W.
