PEDIGREE PIGS.
! WAIONE LARGE WHITES. The annual sale of pedigree pigs held at Waione Model Piggeries, Papakura, yesterday, attracted a large attendance, including buyers from the King Country, Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Northern districts. Bidding was keen with good prices ruling for all classes offered, and the sale was regarded as a very satisfactory one. It was conducted by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. The top price for a boar was 18gs, paid by Massey College, Palmerston North, for Waione Anion Ra, 18 months old. The next best price was 12gs, paid by Mr. R. Melville, Matakana, for Waione Jeffrey, nine months old. For. sows the best price was ll%gs, paid by Mr. V. Croker, Whitford, for a two-year-old in-pig sow, Waione Duchees. The next best price was llgs, paid by Mr. G. W. Collins, Taneatua, for Waione Queen 28th, a two-year-old in-pig sow.
A total of 115 pigs was offered at the sale, and 100 changed hands. Prices averaged approximately as follows:— Service boars, B%gs, and younger boars, 6gs; most of the in-pig sows, 9gs; gilts, all ages, OV&gs. The average price realised for all pigs sold was 7gs.
