THEFT CHARGE.

SOLICITOR ARRESTED. REMANDED ON BAIL. AMOUNT OF £29 INVOLVED. Tliir morning Detective Sergeant Martin arrested an Auckland solicitor, Charles Stewart Leahy, aged 44, who resides at East Coast Eoad, Milfurd, on a charge of theft. Leahy later appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., charged that on April 10 he received from Eugene Lang-ruth £29 ">/ by cheque and that lie fraudulently omitted to account to Letitia Williams for same, thereby committing theft. Detective Serjeant Kelly said accused had to appear before the* Appeal Court at Wellington next Wednesday and that a longer adjournment than usual was desired. Leahy was remanded to appear on July IS and by consent bail in one surety of £ - JOO wan immediately forthcoming. "1 am instructed that" he has a complete answer to the charge," said counsel who appeared for accused.
