OBITUARY.

MRS. THOMAS LOWES. A resident of Palmerston North for half a century, Mrs. Thomas Lowes died recently aged 91 yeans. She was born at Gateshead, England, and 59 years ago came to New Zealand with her husband and familj in the ehip Halcyon. They lived at Wellington and Masterton before going to Palmerston North. Mrs. Lowes is survived by three daughters. MRS. HARRIET WATSON. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAXGAREI, Thursday. Tlie death took place on Wednesday at her home, "Riverside," Parua Bay Road, of Harriet Martha, widow of the late Mr. \V. A. Watson. Mrs. Wateon was thu eldest daughter of the late Captain T. S. Carmichael, of Auckland. In April, ISSO, she was married to the late Mr. W. A. Watson, who was the eldest eon of Mr. Alfred Wateon, one of the early pioneers of this district After'their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Watson settled at Maungakaramca, where they engaged in farming. In 1009 they eold the farm and established a new home at Parua Bay, where they remained until 1023, when they retired from active work and took up their abode at "Riverside," where Mr. Watson died the same year. Mrs. Watson had been in indifferent health for several weeks past and was confined to bed for the last three weeks. Sho is survived by her eister, Mrs. A. S. Wright, of Parnell, Auckland. Mrs. Wateon wae an ardent church worker. MR. FREDERICK HORRELL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCH.URCH, this day. The death has occurred of Mr. Frederick Horrell, of Eangiora, at the age of 80. Mr. Horrell was a -well-known resident of North Canterbury, and member of various public bodies.
