CHURCH NEWS.

ST. MATTHEW'S REUNIONS. As St. Matthew's Anglican Church has now been established for 78 years, special services are being held this month, with the object of bringing together old members, who, in earlier days, were associated with the parish. A reunion service was held on the first Sunday this month for those who had been baptised in St. Matthew's, and some were present who had been baptised 70 years ago. Last Sunday morning the vicar, Canon C. H. Grant Cowen administered communion to past and present communicants. The sermon was preached by Bishop Anderson, formerly of West Australia. In the evening a reunion service of communicants was held, and afterwards about 200 attended a social gathering. . , It is intended next Sunday to hold a reunion of those married in the church, and on June 26 there is to be a thanksgiving service for all who have worshipped, in St. Matthew's. ST. BARNABAS' CHURCH. The new vestry erected for the clergy at {he Church of St. Barnabas, Mount Eden, was dedicated on Sunday by Archbishop Averill, in the presence of a large congregation. The archbishop was issisted by Archdeacon G. Mac Murray, the vicar, Rev. F. G. Harvie, and the former vicar, Canon E. J. Maclarland, and Rev. E. Bamford. The new vestry and a passage joining the guild room with the church building arc constructed m brick and their erection was made possible by the legacy of Mr. Cecil Stock, for many years a member of the church. A tablet; of black marble records the name of the donor. j CITY MISSION. A service was field at the Church of the Epiphany on Sunday to commemorate the twelfth anniverysary of the founding of the Anglican City Mission in Auckland The Rev. Jasper Calder conducted the service, and the sermon was Preached bv Archbishop Averill, who congratulated the mission on the good work accomplished. He said he felt sure the workers would continue their devoted self-sacri-fice There were difficult times ahead, but' he was sure the mission would do everything possible to carry the added burdens.
