POISON FOR RABBITS.

DESTRUCTION OF PHEASANTS. 1 i (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Concern at the actipn of the Department of Agriculture in instructing farmers.to destroy rabbits by the use of poisoned bran and pollard was expreeeed by members of the Whangarei Acolimatisation Society last evening,, it being 'stated that numbers of the society's pheasants in Purua and'Maunu had also been destroyed. Members expressed the belief that poisoned jam would be equally effective and would not be euch a menace to the birds. The view was expressed that if properly organised, a "ehoot" would be as good as any other means, and with that in view a sub-committee was set up to meet the Kiripaka rabbit committee and inquire if it would agree to the society holding a rabbit drive on farms infested by rabbits.
