EVADING UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY.

Several charges of failing to pay the unemployment levy were dealt with by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning. The following were each fined £1 and 10/ costs on one charge, and ordered to pay costs 10/ on a second. Victor Della-Varis, Alexander Duthie, George Gatt and Alex. John. Gatt.

The inspector who prosecuted said that some of the defendants talked too much, for in two eases they had boasted to others that they did not intend to pay the levy. Aβ a result certain information was received by the Labour Department, which brought prosecutions.
