YOUTH IGNORES PROBATION,
Asked by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning why he had not reported himself once since Februaiy 20, when he was admitted to probation on a charge oX stealing a cycle valued at £5, at Christchurch, Albert Edward Docherty, aged 19, stable hand, said that he did not think the matter was so serious.
The probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, said he had not seen Docherty since he wae admitted to probation. "You really deserve a sentence," the magistrate told Docherty. "However, I don't want to start you off in gaol in view of your youth. You must strictly obey the terms of probation."
Docherty's probation term was extended six months.
