STOP-WORK MEETINGS.
INCONVENIENCE ON WHARF. UNLOADING OF FRUIT DELAYED. Local fruit merenante. complain of the inconvenience caused by the stop-work meetings which take place each month on the Auckland wharf. The Waipahi. which brought a consignment of bananas from Fiji, is quoted as a case in point. The vessel was due yesterday afternoon in which case the green fruit would have been unloaded and placed in heating chambers by fruit auctioneers and shopkeepers ready for *ale in a ripe condition next Friday morning. As a result of stormy weather the Waipahi did not nrrive until ln*t evening. Under these, circumstances it was a matter of urgency that the cargo should be unloaded at the earliest possible moment this morning, but this course could not be taken ns the workers took two hours off. from S to 10 o'clock, for their stopwork meeting. i
