PENNY POSTAGE.
AGAIN TO OPERATE. COMMENCING. FROM JUNE 1. MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT. POLICY OF REDUCING COSTS. (By Telegraph.—l>ress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Postmaster-General, the Hon. Hamilton, stated to-day that the Government, in pursuance of its policy of reducing costs, has decided to revert to the system of universal penny postage as from June 1.
Necessary details, the Minister said, would be made known to the public in the course of a few days, but, generally speaking, it could tie stated that the rates would be those in vogue prior to .March 1, 1931, with slight exceptions.
