TRAFFIC LICENSES.

CLASSIFICATION DISCS. A method of licensing intended to indicate at a glance the class to which heavy motor vehicles belong has been introduced in licensing this year. The vehicles are classified alphabetically, according to their weight, from A to Q, the minimum weight being two tons and the maximum 15 tons. Owners are now required to obtain discs, at a cost of 3/, to be affixed alongside the number plates at front and rear and bearing the letter which shows the class of the vehicle. These must be obtained before the end of this month. The object is to assist the city traffic officers in detecting cases of overloading. Under the new arrangement a novel effect will be given by the appearance of the letter discs on vehicles in the streets.
