RECONSTRUCTED.
KIDNAP BABY TRAGEDY. NEW YORK, May 20. Arrests of the kidnappers and murderers of the Lindbergh baby are expected within a few days. Two men, and one woman, a ' nurse, specially selected to take care of the child, actually carried out the kidnapping, the police believe. They forgot to provide the tap© to cover his lips, however, and he made such a howl, when he awoke in the cold, and in strange company, that they could not quieten him. One struck him sharply with a hammer from the motor car toolbox. The blow knocked out the baby, and, in panic, they threw him into the woods. This is the police reconstruction of the tragedy. Dr. Condon, who acted for Lindbergh and paid the ransom in the cemetery, says he met the recipient afterwards and knows his name and can again identify him readily. On Saturday and Sunday detectives guarded Condon, for the gang had warned him that if he ever told they would make it their first business to assassinate him. There were five men and one woman, altogether, in the gang, led by a German, who wrote the ransom notes and spelled "Gut" for "Good."
