Piddington Said to be Intended As Successor. ACTION IF RETURNED. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The "Sydney Morning Herald" says it is stated in political circles that one of the aims of the Lang Government was to secure the appointment of Mr. Justice Piddington, K.C., the Industrial Commissioner who has resigned as a protest against the dismissal of Mr. Lang, as Governor on the recall of Sir Philip Game, which was confidently predicted by Trades Hall officials. During the past week it lias been asserted in Parliamentary circles that should the Lang party be returned, Mr. Lang will insist on the immediate recall of Sir Philip Game. SIGNS OF REVIVAL. SYDNEY BUILDING TRADE. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Signs of the revival in the building trade, which has become paralysed in recent times, are becoming more and more pronounced Contracts let during the past week totalled more than those for the past two months. Formerly the building trade in Sydney represented an annual expenditure of £10,000,000.
MORATORIUM EXTENDED.
RELIEF FOR N.S.W. BORROWERS (Received 11 n.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The Premier, Mr. B. S. Stevens, announced that the Moratorium Act would be extended beyond April, 1033, and that debtors to the State Government would be brought within its provisions. If Mr. Stevens is returned with a majority at the elections, 117,i>00 borrowers who owe the Government in the aggregate £o 1,519,000 will be in a position to get relief by the proposed legislation.
CONTROL OF RADIO.
COMMISSION APPOINTED. CANBERRA, May 23. The personnel of the new broadcasting commission is announced. The commission comprises:—Mr. C. Lloyd Jones, chairman; Mr. Herbert Brookes, vice-chairman; Mr. R. B. Orchard, Professor R. Wallace and Mrs. Couchman. The commission will control .broadcasting programmes from A class stations from July 1.
