LONDON, April 26,
Diplomatic circles in London attribute the Nazi success in the Prussian Diet elections to a psychological blunder by the German Government in suppressing the storm troops. This resulted in a wave of popular enthusiasm in favour of Hitlerism, as the Nazis are now regarded as an association of super-patriots.
Diplomat;; consider that Herr Hitler's best chance is to forego a single-handed Nazi dictatorship in favour of a fair division of power with the Catholics. Next month is likely to be spent in negotiations between the Nazis and Catholics.
A Paris message states that the city is greatly troubled by Herr Hitler's gains, which are certain to affect the coming general election by increasing the vote in favour of the Nationalists. The success will also react on the Disarmament Conference.
A Rome message states that Italy welcomes the Hitlerite success as indicating the imminent downfall of the Socialist dictatorship in favour of the same spirit of rejuvenation which brought the Italian Fascism to power.
