WON BY A WHISTLE.
Ex-New Zealander's Novel Plan On Racehorse. HORSE FLASHES PAST POST. LONDON, March 31. Racegoers who witnessed the running of the Prince of Wales' Plate at Leicester were surprised and puzzled toward the end of the race to hear piercing blasts blown on a whistle. The four-year-old horse Potchim, owned by the ex-New Zealander, Mr. Boyd Davis, knew what it meant and sped past the post an easy winner.
The "Daily Express" says the whistle is part of Mr. Davis' training methods. He claims that his horses have learned to expect it and invariably respond.
