FIRES.
DWELLING AT OPOTIKI.
ALARM GIVEN BY MOTORIST

OPOTIKI, Wednesday
A dwelling owned by the Opotiki Dairy Association and occupied by Mr. Cate, a butter-maker at the factory, was totally destroyed by fire last night; The fire broke out shortly before ten o'clock, a passing motorist giving the alarm. Although the building was well outside the borough area, the fire brigade was quickly on the scene. Owing to the poor water supply the efforts of the brigade were confined' to. saving another dwelling. Dense smoke prevented the saving of the contents of Mr. Gate's dwelling. The family was absent at the time. The dwelling was covered in the Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance Company and the furniture in the Sun Office. Mr. Cate is a heavy loser, his loss including valuable tennis trophies.
BLAZE AT TURUA.

TURUA, Wednesday.
A five-roomed dwelling situated on the Kerepeelii-Kopuarahi Road, Turua, owned and occupied by Mr. Frederick A. Jensen, was destroyed by fire yesterday. The building was insured for £220 and the contents for £353 with the New Zealand Office.
