BOOMING THEIR COUNTRY.
NORTHERN DAIRYMEN,
SEASON STARTS WELL,
(By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.")
DARGAVILLE, this day,
It is confidently expected that this dairying season will be one of the best Northern Wairoa has ever had, said Mr. J. H. Stubbs, managing director of Northern Wairoa' Co-operative Daily Co., Ltd., in an interview this morning. A mild winter, followed by a favourable spring, better farming methods, topdressing, rotational grazing, smaller paddocks, better cows and more cows are contributing factors. He also states that farmers in these trying times are devoting more time to their farms, using less benzine in their cars, and more energy. on their farms. Whilst every part of- the district has contributed to the increased yield, the most marked increases are from the Redhill gumhills and light lands of Tutamoc, Katui and Waimatenui.
Mr. Stubbs quoted the following figures:—Output for September, 1925, 93 tons; 1929, 167% tons; 1931, 202 tons. For the season June to October, inclusive, 1929, 575 tons; 1930, 602 tons; 1931, 678% tons. For the month of October, 1929, 282%, tons; 1930, 266 tons; 1931, 319 1-3 tons. In values, October, 1930, at 9%d, £23,585; whilst the 1931 payout will be at lid, £32,750; increased payout £9165.
