SAMOAN BANANAS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association^) . WELLINGTON", Wednesday. ■ The Maui Pomare, which arrived to-day, brought a cargo of 8221 cases of. Samoan bananas and 650 cases of bananas from Nine Island. The fruit was in excellent condition. This was the largest cargo of fruit that the ship has brought from the Islands since, the hurricane did so much damage there some months ago.' Captain Bolton, master of the Maui Pomare, stated that the Islands were recovering well from" • the ■ effects of the hurricane, but Niue Island was now suffering from drought, and'this was having its effect on the fruit.
