WRITERS' CLUB.
"That the present economic depression is a benefit to mankind," was the title of a lively debate held at the Writers' Club on Wednesday evening. The sub-, ject was attacked from . its national, economic, social , and 'moral standpoints, and vigorous discussion ensued. The organisation and.' optimistic arguments of the affirmative team prevailed against the opponents, who, nevertheless, voiced their negations' with logical ability. These debates are proving quite a feature in the various activities of the club, and the display of enthusiasm and talent in this contest promises well for similar future discussions.
