RUGBY FOOTBALL
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. PONSONBY MEET TRAINING COLLEGE. With only three games to go to the end of the first round in the Rugby senior championship, not a team in the competition remains undefeated. Ponsonby is in the lead, a clear two points ahead of University and Grammar, but there is no certainty that Ponsonby can beat Training College when these teams meet in the main match at Eden Park to-morrow afternoon. The teachers' team made a brilliant start, and then fell away, but in the last two matches it produced surprises by defeating University and drawing with Manukau, who defeated Ponsonby. A fine defence, coupled with possession of fast individualists able to turn to advantage mistakes by the opposition, has been the feature of the Training College game recently, and though the class of the Poneonby forwards should prove the winning factor the match is bound to have many thrills. University and Technical College Old Boys will play the curtainraiser, while City and Marist Old Boys will provide the third game on the pai*k. College Rifles will meet Manukau at the showground, and Grafton and Grammar will travel to Otahuhu to play their game at Sturgess Park. Teams: — MOUNT ROSKILL.
