WAIKATO SUBDIVISION.
HAMILTON UNION'S OPPOSITION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. At a meeting of the Hamilton Rugby Union on Tuesday night, discussion took place on the proposal of the Walkato Union to subdivide the area and reorganise football In the Waikato. The union's suggested scheme provides for the playing of the local club championships in -each sub-union on the first ten Saturdays in the season, and the division of the sub-union into two districts, east and west. It was suggested by Mr. G. L. Whiting that Hamilton should remain out of the scheme this year and that alternative proposals be made to the Waikato Union for next season. In giving his opinion, the chairman, Mr. A. S. Cliffe, thought that the greatest weakness in the scheme lay in the fact that there had been no alternative suggestionl made for non-representative players. He pointed out that, though the smaller sub-unions would in all probability benefit, Hamilton would most likely lose. The matter' will be rurtner reconsidered at the nest meeting.
