MUSIC EXAMINATIONS.
AWARDS FOR LAST YEAR. The 1931 practical examinations for the New Zealand branch of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music will be conducted by Mr. Gordon Bryan, a distinguished recitalist. Mr. Bryan has done a great deal of concert work ail over England, and during the . last six years has broadcast 175 times from various stations in Great Britain. He has specialised in piano concertos, having given over 100 public performances with orchestra, in 25 different works. The qualifying examination for L.A.B. has now been dropped by the board and higher division harmony has been substituted. The following awards of exhibitions and medals have been made to candidates from the Auckland Province who sat for examinations in 1930:—Final grade, gold medal: Lilian Shalber (Pukekohe), pianoforte; silver medal: Lyndall Burley (Auckland), pianoforte. Advanced grade, silver medal: Reid Norton (Gisborne) pianoforte. Local exhibition, intermediate grade: Murielle Hawkins (Te Awamutu) pianoforte.
